These women from a remote mountain town have armed themselves with rifles, a machete,
and a sharpened stick, to defend their families. Their husbands and brothers may
have been killed by the army while struggling to keep possession of their land.
Much of this town's indigenous population fled to Mexico during the violence of the 1980s. | |
